Extra Credit #1 - Music
For this assignment, you should find 3 songs that make you think about the environment or an environmental issue. The songs do not have to be about environmental issues - just contain some music or lyrics that bring to mind something related to the environment. Give the name and artist for each song and describe how you "made the connection." You should include lyrics from the song as needed. Also, describe any other thoughts relating to the song or your interpretation of it (for example, do you think the artist meant there to be environmental messages in the song, do you think the messages are good/bad, do you like the song, had you ever heard of the song or artist before, etc.).

Extra Credit #3 - Anybody up for some fishin'?
Please visit http://www.doh.state.fl.us/environment/medicine/fishconsumptionadvisories/2011%20Advisories.pdf and read the Department of Health's recent fish advisory. Read the entire introduction. What is the main pollutant that we worry about when eating fish in Florida? How much fish is considered a serving? Which Florida fish to they warn that you should never eat? Next, look through Table 1 and find some water bodies located in the county you live in. What are some of the recommendations they offer for fishing there (species, number to eat for women of reproductive age and all others)? Glance through Table 1 and identify the fish species that is most often listed as "do not eat." In Table 2 they list recommendations for marine (salt-water) fish. If we went fishing at the pier this weekend, which fish species look like they have the highest levels of mercury and should be eaten infrequently (or not at all)? Finally, go down to Table 3 and review health warnings for reasons other than mercury. Do you think we should plan a camping trip/cookout to Emeralda Marsh Area 7? What are the reasons for avoiding this location?
